Diary entry from Vienna, Austria, June 27th, 2008

In the summer of 2008, I took a huge art history class trip to Europe. It was the most amazing time of my life and I am so absolutely nostalgic for it all the time.
Now presenting me, age 17, exactly three years ago, sounding like the biggest glutton ever:

"Day 12, June 27th, Vienna, Austria. Today I ate SO much food. I think I went over my budget for the day at lunch. Oops. Today we went to a military museum, which was pretty cool. They had some cool planes, and the actual car that Francis Ferdinand (the archduke of Russia or something) got shot in. Then we went to a few more museums, but they weren't as cool, except we did see a Heironymus Bosch painting which is pretty famous. Our hotel is an hour and a half outside of Vienna, so we have a bit of a drive. The hotel is pretty cute and it has an indoor pool! For dinner, we walked to Melk along the highway to look for a place to have dinner. It took 50 minutes to walk each way, and it was dark when we walked back. Dinner was really good, but dessert was even better. I had two desserts-- a tiramisu, and a strawberry icing covered cake for the walk back. When we got back to the hotel we talked for a little while, then went to sleep pretty early. Megan is still all over Justin. Ew."

It's not the most beautifully written thing ever, because we were constantly doing things, and I was usually exhausted (and excuse the ~teen drama~ at the end) but I'm so glad I kept with this journal the whole trip!

Dolly and I (with Carson creeping behind!) with our strawberry cakes!
